whibaml: richard candida-smith, intellectual history of the us

Richard Candida-Smith of Berkeley http://history.berkeley.edu/people/richard-c%C3%A1ndida-smith has made available podcasts of a wonderful course on intellectual history of the US, on iTunes This gets a whibaml (where have I been all my life) from me, because he provides background on many things that I didn't even know had background, such as contrasting strands of thought in the civil rights movement. A few teasers: What is "Scottish common sense philosophy", and in what way is it still governing our institutions? What is "happiness", in "pursuit of happiness"? What does even a fairly short historical perspective reveal about US intervention in Afghanistan? I hate listening to things, or reading them, twice, but on my second listening these lectures are changing my attitude about that.
